SPECIFICATIONS FOR DEMOLITION <br />1. The City of Little Canada requires the successful bidder to provide a surety bond or cashier's check in the <br />amount of $1,000 to ensure compliance with specifications. This will be returned upon satisfactory <br />completion of the project. Should work not be completed to the satisfaction of the City, notice will be given <br />allowing for ten (10) days to correct deficiencies. Should they not be satisfactorily addressed, the <br />Contractor will forfeit his/her rights to the deposit. <br />2. The Contractor will be given fourteen (14) calendar days to complete demolition and restoration activities <br />once work is commenced. In no case may the completion date extend beyond thirty (30) days from the date <br />the Contractor has been notified of contract award or available start date, whichever is later. <br />3. A demolition permit must be obtained from the City before work commences. The cost is $25.50 per <br />structure. <br />4. Insurance coverage must be provided by the Contractor. Coverage must name the City of Little Canada as <br />an additional insured and must include the following: <br />Bodily Injury Liability <br />Property Damage Liability <br />Auto Public Liability <br />Workers' Compensation <br />$250,000/$600,000 <br />$600,000 single limit <br />$250,000/$500,000 <br />$100,000 single limit <br />5. Upon commencement of any work on the site and until satisfactory completion of the demolition contract, <br />the Contractor shall have the care, custody, and control of the premises unless said care, custody, and <br />control is assumed by the City at an earlier date by written notice to the Contractor. The Contractor shall <br />exercise the care, custody and control of the premises subject to the rights of the City and other contractors, <br />engaged thereon. All insurance required under this contract for the protection of the City must be <br />maintained for the entire period wherein the Contractor has the care, custody, and control of the premises, <br />and until completion and acceptance of the entire project by the City. The Contractor shall not allow <br />rubbish or waste materials to accumulate on or about the premises. He /She shall keep the street and <br />adjoining property cleaned of refuse and repaired to the satisfaction of the City. <br />6. The structure in question must be completely demolished, including foundation systems. Below grade <br />structures are to be uncovered and removed from the site. <br />7. The Contractor shall confine his/her apparatus, the storage of materials, and the operations of his/her <br />workers to the site or as directed by the City. <br />8. The Contractor shall make his/her own arrangements for the use of toilet facilities by himself/herself and <br />employees. The Contractor shall discharge any workers creating a nuisance on the premises. <br />9. Successful bidder(s) are responsible for conditions on the job site within the designated construction area <br />during the demolition process. This includes safety of all persons and property. Work conditions shall <br />conform to all applicable requirements of regulatory agencies that have jurisdiction over safety. This <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />Page 29 <br />
