MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />.TUNE 12, 1997 <br />CUP TO AMEND <br />EXITING PUD - <br />MINNESOTA <br />MINI STORAGE <br />*That the brick color be earth -toned so as to comply with the City's <br />architectural guidelines for the area; <br />That all required setbacks be complied with; <br />*That there be compliance with the recommendations of the City Planner <br />as outlined in his report dated June 6, 1997 with the following exceptions: <br />Delete recommendation #3, page 10. <br />Delete recommendation #1, page 11, allowing for 17'4" <br />building height; <br />Delete recommendation #3, page 11; <br />Applicant work with City Planner on recommendation #4, page <br />11; <br />Delete recommendation #5, page 11; <br />• Applicant work with City Planner on recommendation #7, page <br />11 with the possibility of more flower beds and eliminating a <br />row of trees so as not to obstruct the view of the building; <br />• Applicant to work with City Planner on recommendations #10 <br />and #12, page 11 given that signage requirements may change <br />since the building is being turned. <br />Motion seconded by Carson. <br />Motion carried 7 — 0. <br />The Commission discussed whether overhead doors should be required to <br />be kept closed. It was the consensus of the Commission that this was an <br />issue Mr. Schroeder would have to deal with in order to keep noise levels <br />down so as not to disturb his other tenants in the area. <br />Mr. Todd Jones, Two S Properties, appeared before the Commission <br />requesting approval of a Conditional Use Permit to amend an existing <br />Planned Unit Development to add a parcel to the Minnesota Mini - <br />Storage site and develop this parcel as additional mini - storage facility. <br />Jones reported that Minnesota Mini - Storage has been in existence for the <br />last 13 years. Two S Properties is proud of the facility, maintains it well, <br />and feels it has a Class A facility. Two S Properties would like to acquire <br />the adjacent property and eventually develop four additional mini - storage <br />buildings. Initially two buildings would be developed, with the remaining <br />property used for interim RV outdoor storage. The building that would be <br />developed would be climate - controlled. That is, heated in the winter and <br />cooled in the summer. Jones reported that they are finding a demand for <br />Page 28 <br />
