Auto Servic e
Centers
Tuff)® Associates Corp.
1414 Baronial Plaza Drive • Toledo, Ohio 43615 • (419) 865-6900 • Fax (419) 865 -7343
Thursday, May 29, 1997
To: City Council and Planning Commission Members
City of Little Canada, MN
Re: Proposed Tuffy Auto Service Center
Little Canada, MN
Dear Council and Planning Commission Members:
The following is a description of our proposed use of the property and some responses to
questions most asked about a Tuffy Auto Service Center.
Tuffy Associates Corp. currently has 210+ stores operating primarily in the Midwest.
The majority of the stores are operated by Tuffy franchisees. It is Tuffy's plan for the
Twin City Metropolitan area stores to be franchised including the Little Canada store.
Tuffy is proposing a 5 bay, 405(92' auto service facility. From the enclosed colored
building elevation/floor plan, you can see the 5 bays with storage and the adjoining entry
and customer waiting area.
Tuffy performs most all services and repairs except major transmission repair, major
engine repair, and auto body repair and painting. Basically, all repairs and services can
be completed the same day while the customer waits, or at the customer's option, they
can leave the car and pick it up later in the day. This leads into one of the most often
asked questions:
Q.
A.
Q.
A.
Q•
A.
"Are you going to have a parking lot full of disabled cars for weeks ?"
The answer is, "No ". For the most part, at the close of a business day, there will be
no cars left in the parking lot overnight. The biggest reason for a car being left in the
lot overnight is a customer not picking up their car until the next day.
"What are your hours of operation ?"
Typical hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday
8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and closed Sunday. Franchisees, however, may vary their
hours of operation depending on the needs of the customer. For example, some
stores are currently open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday - Friday to offer our
customers the convenience of dropping off their cars before work and picking them
up after work.
"What about increased car traffic ?"
An average store services 20 -40 cars a day. This is very low traffic volume
compared to other type uses such as restaurants, banks, convenience stores, gas
stations, etc.
"Satisfied customers a
Page 62
our business."
