Hanson <br />June 4, 1997 <br />TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council <br />FROM: Kathy Glanzer, Administrative Assistant <br />RE: Community Rooms — Use of Alcohol and Tobacco <br />The following are the results of a survey regarding the use of alcohol at community room <br />rental space: <br />Falcon Heights — No alcohol is allowed in the parks building. Alcohol use is <br />allowed at City Hall. An off -duty police office is required to be <br />present. Falcon Heights has not required proof of insurance, but <br />indicated that they probably should. However, their feeling is that the <br />space is not large enough for weddings, showers, etc. The use mainly <br />consists of business rentals. <br />Smoke & Tobacco Free Facility. <br />Maplewood — Until January of 1998 people leasing community room space <br />can bring in their own alcohol if they have an open bar. An insurance <br />rider is required. If there is a cash bar, a licensed on -sale provider must be <br />hired. Beginning with January of 1998, if there is any alcohol use, the <br />renter must use the licensed provider which Maplewood has hired. <br />Smoke & Tobacco Free Facility <br />North St. Paul — No alcohol use is allowed. Smoke & Tobacco Free Facility <br />Roseville — No alcohol use is allowed. Smoke & Tobacco Free Facility <br />Shoreview — Shoreview has a list of approved on -sale providers. The renter <br />would have to hire one of these providers in order to serve alcohol. <br />Smoke & Tobacco Free Facility <br />Vadnais Heights — No alcohol use is allowed. Smoke & Tobacco Free Facility. <br />Please not that our current policy has been to allow tobacco use in the lower level of the <br />Old Fire Hall. <br />Page 49 <br />
