MINUTES <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />AUGUST 10, 1995 <br />Schletty agreed, but stated that he would not be <br />opposed to construction of a garage to house the truck. <br />Schletty pointed out that the truck is only 2,000 <br />pounds over the limit, and is not much different than <br />an RV. <br />Schletty recommended_denial of the Variance to allow <br />outdoor parking of a truck which exceeds 12,000 pounds <br />gross vehicle weight in a residential area because of <br />the precedent which would be set in the community if <br />the variance were approved. <br />Motion seconded by Garske. <br />Motion carried 6 - 0. <br />AMEND I -P The City Planner presented a proposed amendment to <br />DISTRICT the I -P District which would prohibit the stockpiling <br />and recycling of aggregate materials in supplies of <br />more than 25 cubic yards. The Planner reported that <br />this prohibition already exists in the I -1 District. <br />The Planner reported that the issue came up as a result <br />of some code enforcement activities on a business in <br />the I -P District. <br />Garske recommended approval of the amendment to the I -P <br />District adding language prohibiting the stockpiling <br />and recycling of aggregate materials in supplies of <br />more than 25 cubic yards. <br />Motion seconded by Keis. <br />Motion carried 6 - 0. <br />ARCHITECTURAL The City Planner reviewed his report dated August 8, <br />CONTROLS 1995 which describes methods of controlling aesthetic <br />issues in commercial districts. The report listed four <br />methods of regulation, the first being sign codes. The <br />Planner pointed out that the City currently regulates <br />signs through limits on height, area, and setback. The <br />second method would be regulation through building <br />materials standards. Again, the City does have some <br />controls in place on building materials. Two other <br />options are regulation through appearance codes /design <br />standards and architectural design review.
