F. Miscellaneous Sign Practices: <br />a. Public Works staff is on call after hours in case of an emergency sign issue <br />and can be reached by public safety dispatchers. <br />b. Training is provided to ensure public works staff can perform sign <br />maintenance duties in an efficient, effective, and responsive manner. Such <br />training shall consist of, at a minimum, appropriate signing and traffic control <br />seminars (when available and funds are available in the City training budget), <br />appropriate available training videos or website training, and training as <br />appropriate and available for supervisors. <br />c. Unauthorized signs will be removed from City right -of -way. <br />d. Support staff will be informed and updated regarding sign maintenance <br />operations to ensure accurate information is available to respond to inquiries. <br />4. Pavement Markings <br />Pavement Marking Practices: <br />a. At the beginning of each construction season, the Public Works <br />Superintendent shall review the conditions of City pavement markings. <br />b. All pavement markings needing refreshing will be identified and contract <br />pavement painters will be secured and directed to refresh as needed. <br />c. In the event of limited funding, the City will assure that pavement markings <br />meet standard requirements for retro - reflectivity at a minimum. <br />d. Epoxy paint shall be used for all crosswalks, railroad crossing warnings, and <br />stop bars. <br />e. Latex paint will be used for parking lot stiping, cross hatching, and handicap <br />stencils. <br />5. Pavement Striping <br />Pavement Striping Practices: <br />a. At the beginning of each construction season, the Public Works <br />Superintendent shall review the conditions of City pavement striping. <br />b. All pavement striping needing refreshing will be identified and contract <br />pavement painters will be secured and directed to refresh as needed. <br />c. City roadways scheduled to be seal coated will not be striped until after the <br />seal coating is finished. <br />d. In the event of limited funding, the City will assure that all pavement striping <br />meets standard requirements for retro - reflectivity at a minimum. <br />e. Epoxy paint shall be installed following new construction and overlays. <br />Epoxy typically will not be refreshed prior to the first seal coat on the road, <br />usually seven years. <br />f. Latex paint will typically be used following the first seal coat and thereafter. <br />3 <br />5 <br />
