Disadvantages
— There is a higher cost associated with sodding.
— After the initial 30 days, the abutting property owner does not always provide proper care
of the new sod. Problems have resulted by over watering, under watering, and lack of
adequate nutrients. Variances in weather conditions can also stress new sod over the first
couple of years.
SEED
Seeding is another acceptable alternative for yard restoration.
Advantages
+ Lower cost.
+ Seed adapts itself better to site conditions thereby becoming more tolerant of variations in
weather.
+ Better opportunity for maintaining good long -term appearance.
Disadvantages
— Slower to establish (Depending on weather conditions, initial turf establishment will start
within one -two weeks. After four weeks, most seed will have germinated and the yard
will take on an appearance comparable with sod.).
— Erosion problems possible during extreme rain events before turf is established.
— Extends timeline for problem inconvenience due to potential mud/dust until turf
establishes (estimate two additional weeks).
YOUR RESPONSE IS NEEDED
Your input is important to this decision.
