MN • Mequon, WI RECEIVED (it, T Re: Pitrina Park Terrace — Signage of Desoto /Allen Intersection Our File No. 37233 Dear Joel: 1997 We have reviewed the letter from Joe Paget, the Ramsey County Sheriff's Traffic Deputy, and offer the following comments. Mr. Paget recommends installing stop signs at all three legs of the Desoto /Allen intersection subsequent to completing the Allen Street extension to Centerville Road. We don't believe that traffic volumes warrant an all -way stop, and therefore disagree with this recommendation. It is our opinion that traffic will naturally wish to follow Allen Street. Therefore, it is our recommendation that a stop sign be installed on Desoto Street and that Allen Street be left as a through movement. We expect that the traffic on Allen Street will far outnumber the traffic on Desoto Street subsequent to completing the extension. We are aware that the Pitrina Park Terrace development is proposed to have special entrances. Our recommendation is therefore contingent on the ability to construct the Pitrina Park Terrace entrance in a manner that allows smooth movement of through traffic. We recommend that the owner of this development be directed to work closely with us on this issue. If the intersection cannot be constructed in a manner which allows smooth through movements on Allen Street, then our recommendation is to proceed with the all -way stop as proposed by Mr. Paget.
