BIKE MORE, DRIVE LESS <br />Ever wondered how to find your <br />way around the Twin Cities by <br />bike'? Then you need a copy of <br />the Twin Cities Bicycle Map & <br />Commuter Guide, published jointly <br />by the Metropolitan Council, <br />University of Minnesota, Minne- <br />sota Bicycle Safety Project and <br />others. <br />The newly revised map shows the <br />best bicycling routes in the Twin <br />Cities area to help residents bike <br />more and drive less, and features <br />detailed maps of Minneapolis, St. <br />Paul and the University of <br />Minnesota. It also provides useful <br />information about: on -street bike <br />lanes in both downtowns; paved <br />trails; color -coded ratings of city <br />streets, according to good, fair and <br />poor, and; connecting routes to <br />lakes, parks, and new trails. <br />Copies of the map are available by <br />calling or stopping by the <br />Metropolitan Council Regional <br />Data Center at Mears Park <br />Centre, 230 E. Fifth Street, St. Paul, <br />602 -1140. The cost of the map is <br />$4 when picked up or $6 when <br />mailed_ <br />Get your copy of Twin <br />Cities Bicycle Map & <br />Commuter Guide <br />JUNIOR LEADERS <br />VOLUNTEER <br />IN THE <br />SUMMER PARK <br />PROGRAMS <br />The Falcon Heights Recreation <br />program appreciates the <br />assistance of middle and high <br />school youth in its Junior Leader <br />program. Youth entering grade <br />7 and up assist lead instructors <br />and coaches in working with <br />children in a variety of recreation <br />programs such as nearbaii, t -ball, <br />soccer, arts and crafts,and the <br />Time -In playground programs. <br />This year, there are nine Junior <br />Leaders volunteering their time. <br />The Junior Leaders gain valuable <br />experience in working with young <br />children and have lots of funl <br />Page 55 <br />
