515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
October 15, 1997
TO: Mayor Fahey and Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel R. Hanson, City Administrator
RE: Evaluation of Overnight Parking Ban
East Rose Place and Sylvan Street
MAYOR
Michael 1. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
As the Council will recall, in September of 1996, overnight parking bans were placed on
East Rose Place and Sylvan Street north of County Road C. Council asked that these
bans be evaluated at the end of a year.
To date, the City has received no complaints regarding the parking ban on East Rose
Place. However, we have received correspondence from tenants at Azure Properties
townhomes on Sylvan Street complaining of a lack of on -site parking at the townhome
complex. Attached is correspondence from Azure Properties dated September 10, 1997.
It is Azure Properties' contention that they have adequate on -site parking for their
tenants. However, they will be surveying their residents and indicate if the need for
additional spaces becomes apparent, they will be added.
At this point, staff would recommend the continuation of these parking restrictions.
However, you may want additional information from affected residents to complete your
evaluation.
Page 104
