Hanson
The architect has informed me that we should budget $20,000 to upgrade our existing
restrooms if it is a stand -alone project. I have sent a request to Lake Owasso asking for
their assistance with this project. They have a membership meeting scheduled for next
week, but we will likely not hear a decision for a few weeks as they address some other
outstanding issues.
The project budget for the Historical Society Addition was $316,000. By deleting the
restrooms and providing for some increase in construction costs, I would estimate the
project budget at $310,000 subject to further review by our architects. (Hopefully this is
high but with today's construction market I would like to avoid any surprises.) To fund
additional costs, We would need to designate $60,000 from our General Capital
Improvement Fund. Another option is to designate a lower budget amount and try to
make the project fit within that budget. ($250,000 has already been set aside.)
Also attached is a proposed agreement between the City of Little Canada and the Little
Canada Historical Society documenting their level of commitment to assist with the
funding of this project. While there are a number of variables that could negate this
commitment, this document does the best job possible of formalizing our relationship.
The Historical Society has just been given a copy of this draft, and hopefully will be able
to comment at Wednesday's meeting, The City Attorney should also be asked for his
comments.
cc: Jean Donovan, Historical Society
Mike Finnegan
Pete DiFranco
Page 92
