MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 8, 1997 <br />BIDS FOR <br />PIONEER PARK <br />PARKING LOT <br />EXPANSION <br />BUDGET <br />WORKSHOP <br />YOUTH <br />ADVISORY <br />BOARDS <br />COMPLETED THROUGH TO CENTERVILLE ROAD AND IS OPEN <br />TO TRAFFIC <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (4) Morelan, LaValle, Fahey, Pedersen. <br />Nays (1) Scalze. Resolution declared adopted. <br />Fahey reviewed the recommendation of the Parks & Recreation <br />Commission to reject the bids for Pioneer Park parking lot expansion <br />given that they are over estimate, and that the work be rebid in the <br />spring. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 97 -10 -246 — REJECTING THE BIDS FOR <br />EXPANSION OF THE PIONEER PARK PARKING LOT AS <br />RECOMMENDED BY THE PARKS AND RECREATION <br />COMMISSION GIVEN THAT THE BIDS ARE OVER PROJECT <br />ESTIMATES <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) LaValle, Scalze, Pedersen, Morelan, Fahey. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />It was noted that the Commission also recommended that this project be <br />bid in combination with the expansion of the Spooner Park parking lot <br />near the new picnic shelter. Morelan suggested that the Spooner Park <br />parking lot expansion be discussed as part of the Council's consideration <br />of the Capital Improvement Budget. <br />It was noted that the 1998 Budget Workshop held earlier this evening <br />was continued to November 12, 1997 at 6:00 P.M. <br />Morelan reported that he brought the issue of youth involvement at the <br />City level to the Council's attention as a result of a seminar he attended <br />at the League of Minnesota Cities' annual conference. Morelan noted the <br />information the Council has been provided with on this issue and <br />suggested that the Council take the time in a future workshop to go <br />10 <br />Page 136 <br />
