515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117 -1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 -4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: November 21, 1997
RE: Demolition Quotes for 2 Little Canada Road East
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Miamian
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Three quotations were received for the demolition of the house and garage and removal of the
concrete materials for the property at 2 Little Canada Road East. Quotations were as follows:
Contractor Complete Removal Concrete Left On -site
Thomas Contracting $4,900 $4,300
Veit & Co., Inc. $4,695* ($5,145) -
RPX, Inc. $6,300 $5,300
*Does not include well abandonment estimated at $450.
All three contractors have worked for the City in the past and their performance has been
satisfactory. Given the small difference in price ($600), I am recommending that we do a
complete demolition of the property for $4,900 to be awarded to Thomas Contracting.
It is anticipated that the house will be removed within the next two weeks. It should also be
noted that I talked to a house mover and another contractor about the sale and relocation of the
house. It was not deemed feasible.
JRH:kpv
cc: Tim Thomas, Thomas Contracting
Jim Brunkhorst, Veit & Co., Inc.
Roger Paulson, RPX, Inc.
Page 175
