/
MINUTES
Parks & Recreation Commission
NOVEMBER 6,1997
SPROSTY The Director said the property was on Keller Parkway. There is a new house on the left before
PROPERTY you get to Lakeside Court. He stated that they are looking at moving the lot line on one of
DIVISION the existing lots. The Director stated that he did not see any reason why the Park Commission
would be interested in any portion of that land as opposed to cash.
Johnson wanted to know if there was a new lot that came out of it. The Director thought it
was just the movement of the line. Johnson didn't think they would even get money then.
The Director thought they would or it would not have come before the Commission.
Anderson asked if the house was built on the lot. Johnson stated that she was confused. There
was much discussion as to where the line was and whether or not the house was built on the
line and which way the line was to be moved.
Schaefer stated that the house was not built yet and that it was the son wanting to build on
his father's property, but the lot needed to be split.
Remerowski stated that he would like to see the City receive the $626.00 parkland dedication
fee for the new house being constructed phis the difference between the current $625.00 park
charge and what the original park charge was for the existing house.
Johnson stated that she felt that only the new house should have to pay the $625.00.
Remerowski still thought they should get $625.00 for the existing house also. Johnson
disagreed and again there was much discussion.
Remerowski made the motion to get $625.00 for the house being built and the additional
monies; whatever the difference is from what they had paid on the original lot to what is
being charged now, because we are moving a lot line.
Johnson asked if there was a second to the motion.
Anderson said he would second it if that opened up discussion
Johnson stated that it would open up discussion again.
Anderson seconded it and asked if they knew what was paid when they built the original
house. Remerowski guessed about $300.00. Johnson stated that $625.00 was the amount
charged now when a new house is built. The Director stated that the land portion, in lieu of
cash, would be 10% of the property. The Director stated that the job of the Commission was
to decide whether to accept cash or land in regard to the new house being built.
Remerowski stated that when it comes to park dedication this is a one -time charge to people
that build homes. He felt that this particular property was improving their property by
changing a line and that was his theory behind wanting to get $625.00 out of both lots.
Page 23
