MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 28, 2013
owners. He stated that the only negative in considering the Brausen
proposal is that it would slow the Pinetree Pond development down, and
questioned what difference it would make if the development process is
slowed down by one month given the additional lots that could be gained.
Keis pointed out that the Brausen proposal may not be a bad idea, but
noted that the Pinetree Pond property is not owned by the Brausens. He
indicated that it is Gordie Howe's decision as to how he wants to develop
his property.
Dave Brausen agreed, but pointed out that the City is in a position to
encourage how this area develops. He also stated that Jerry Boog and Gail
Acosta do not favor a cul -de -sac crossing through their property as is
proposed in the ghost plat. Montour pointed out that under the Brausen
option, Boog's and Acosta's support would be necessary given they would
be responsible for infrastructure improvement costs. Dave Brausen
indicated that he is still discussing the Brausen option with Boog and
Acosta.
Steve Brausen felt the Brausen option was preferable, but indicated that at
a minimum the existing road easement should be retained. He noted that
that easement was dedicated to provide development potential for the area.
Dave Brausen agreed and stated that the easement should not be vacated
as it is important to the northeast property owners. Steve Brausen stated
that the existing road easement should have been extended to Westwind
Drive at the time that area was developed. Dave Brausen asked the
Council not to be hasty in its decision.
Mary Edgett, 3000 Arcade Street, stated that property owners in the area
have always been aware that 2966 Arcade Street would develop. Edgett
indicated that Gordie Howe had discussed with her the purchase of her
property so he could develop with road access from Arcade Street given
issues of connecting this development to LaBore Road. She asked what
happened to the public safety issue of bringing another connecting road to
I:,aBore Road. She also asked what happened to the potential purchase of
her property.
Howe indicated that he previously had an agreement with Edgett for the
purchase of her property. He then reported the history of his acquisition of
2966 Arcade Street, pointing out that when he first acquired it through a
Sheriff's sale, the previous property owner was able to take the property
back at the end of the redemption period. That was at the time he had the
agreement with Edgett. It was only through the second foreclosure
process that he was able to acquire the property.
7
