Lanners
Our File No. 8386
Dear Joel:
Telephone
(612) 222 -2541
Facsimile
(612) 223-5289
As we discussed, John J. Lanners, President of F.T.L.
Corporation, doing business as MGM Liquor Warehouse at 2680 Rice
Street, plead guilty to a violation of Little Canada City
Ordinance 703.140 (2) on March 8, 1996, before Judge Michael
DeCourcy of Ramsey County District Court. By way of his plea,
Lanners acknowledged that in his capacity as President of the
corporation, he allowed MGM Liquor to be open and to make sales
of intoxicating liquor on January 1, 1996. The guilty plea was
presented to the Court by way of a Petition to Enter Plea of
Guilty, a copy of which is enclosed for your information. The
Court accepted the plea of guilty and sentenced as follows:
Imposition of sentence was stayed for one year on the
condition of no liquor law violations for one year and
payment of Court costs in the amount of $50.00.
Little Canada Code Section 703.170 entitled "Suspension and
Revocation," provides in part, as follows:
"The Council shall either suspend for up to sixty (60) days
or revoke any intoxicating liquor license, or impose a civil
fine not to exceed $2,000.00 for each violation upon a
finding that the licensee has failed to comply with any
applicable statute, regulation, or ordinance relating to
alcoholic beverages. Except in cases of failure of
financial responsibility, no suspension or revocation shall
take effect until the licensee has been afforded an
opportunity for a hearing..."
Page 10
fro
