it be Siocietp of Little Canaba
515 East Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minnesota 55117
City Council
City of Little Canada
515 East Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN
March 25, 1996
Dear Mayor and Council Members:
On behalf of the Historical Society of Little Canada and
its members. I would like to express our thanks for your
support and interest in our organization and our mission, as
we see it, to enrich the community with a knowledge of its
past.
It is our view that a respect and pride in our community
today and in the future, directly relates to our
appreciation of our roots in the past. People approaching
retirement age have expressed a desire to get involved in
our society when they are no longer working.
We feel it will be beneficial to our organization, as
well as to the city, to proceed with an evaluation of our
archival material as well as the artifacts donated by
citizens of our community.
We have given much thought to the direction we want our
historical society to continue to develop. Do we want our
extensive French Canadian Genealogical Collection to be
transferred to the Ramsey County Historical Society or to
the Minnesota Historical Society ? NO !!! The Minnesota
Historical Society offers a list of professional
Genealogists who, for a fee, will answer queries about
family histories. Out of state people, wishing information,
usually inquire at the location where their family
lived...Little Canada.
We feel that the following are of prime importance and
should be kept here: The original Township records, copies
of Birth and Death records from about 1880 , Cemetery and
Marriage records, old Maps dating to 1859 and the Kohlman
Hotel Register. If we overrate the value of this archival
material, now is the time we should be so informed.
Page 2
"La Societe Des Descendant Des Ancien Du Petit Canada"
