Vacation time cannot be combined with normally worked hours <br />in a manner that will generate overtime pay for the <br />employee. <br />J. In lieu of hours worked in excess of forty (40) per week <br />that the positions of City Administrator, Public Works <br />Superintendent Director, and Parks & Recreation Director <br />positions typically demand, one week's vacation will be <br />added to the <br />standard vacation schedule for these employees on an annual <br />basis subject to satisfactory performance as deemed by the <br />position's respective supervisor. This handbook and this <br />provision do not apply to Department Heads hired after July <br />12, 1995. <br />Funeral Leave <br />Paid time off may be granted, up to a maximum of three days, in <br />the event a permanent full -time or permanent part -time employee <br />suffers a death in his or her immediate family in accordance with <br />the provisions of this section. Additional time off without pay <br />will be granted as may reasonably be required under individual <br />circumstances, subject to the approval of the City Administrator. <br />Immediate family (for purposes of this section) is defined as an <br />employee's spouse, parents, spouse's parents, children, step- <br />children, brothers and sisters, brothers -in -law, sisters -in -law <br />grandparents, grandparents -in -law, grandchild, and spouse's <br />grandchild. <br />Jury and Witness Duty <br />A. Permanent full -time and permanent part -time employees, <br />working a minimum of 20 hours per week on average projected <br />over a calendar year based on anticipated demands of the <br />position,shall be granted paid leaves of absence for <br />required jury duty. Such employees shall receive that <br />portion of their regular compensation which will, with their <br />jury pay, equal their total compensation for the same <br />period. The time spent on jury duty shall not be counted as <br />time worked in computing overtime. Employees excused or <br />released from jury duty during their regular working hours <br />shall report to their regular work duties as soon as <br />possible. <br />B. Employees shall notify their supervisor in writing as soon <br />as possible after receiving notice to report for jury duty. <br />23 <br />Page 30 <br />
