<br /> <br /> Staff Report <br /> <br /> <br />To: Mayor Fischer and Members of the Little Canada City Council <br /> <br />From: Bryce Sheeran, City Administrator <br /> <br />Date: July 22, 2026 <br /> <br />Re: Fire Station Camera System Replacement <br /> <br />Actions To Be Considered: <br />Motion to approve, table, or not approve: <br />• Approve the purchase and installation of a new closed-circuit television camera system <br />for the Little Canada Fire Station from Pro-Tec Design in the amount of $25,300 and <br />authorize the Fire Chief to execute the proposal and related project documents. <br /> Background: <br />Attached is a request from Fire Chief Don Smiley to purchase a budgeted item in the 2026-2035 <br />Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). <br /> Purchasing Approval: <br />Under the City’s purchasing policy for budgeted items, projects exceeding $25,000 are <br />classified as major purchases and require approval from the City Administrator and the City <br />Council. The City Administrator has reviewed the Fire Department’s request and approves it, <br />subject to City Council approval. <br /> Financial Impact: <br />The project will be funded from the Fire Equipment Fund (457), Project - Fire 23. The City’s <br />2026 Capital Improvement Plan includes $40,000 for replacing the fire station camera system. <br />The budget estimate was based on the previous Kraus-Anderson facility study. <br /> <br />The proposed cost of $25,300 is within the approved project budget. <br /> Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends that the Council approve the purchase and installation of a new closed-circuit <br />television camera system for the Little Canada Fire Station from Pro-Tec Design for $25,300 and <br />authorize the Fire Chief to execute the proposal and related project documents. <br /> <br />Attachments: <br />• LCFD Request <br />• Proposal from Pro-Tec Design <br />
