After several organizational meetings PASS has a plan of
action that we believe can make an immediate impact on school climate at the
Roseville Area Middle School. We want to recruit you and other community
volunteers to help improve school climate by attending the school corridors and
grounds. PASS wants to recruit adults, especially senior men, who can spend
time walking, talking and encouraging kids on the school campus. Young teens
are often isolated and segregated from adults at the time when they need people
the most. Growing numbers are growing up without a father at home. There are
over 1,500 youngsters who need the attention and presence of adults during their
school day. They need us - now.
Several community organizations have expressed an interest in helping recruit
from their volunteer base. To date, both the Roseville Masonic Center and the
Roseville Area Retired Educators Association have invited Teri Graham to
present at their executive meetings. Other groups are being contacted.
In the meantime, we need to begin registering individuals willing to serve our
children. We will be coordinating the program in conjunction with the Middle
School. Next week a member of the PASS Steering Committee will give you a
call. We would like to assess your interest in the corridor project, as well as your
general interest in PASS. We will ask you the following:
• Would you be willing to spend time with kids in the Middle School ?
• Do you want to be a member of Parent Action for Safe Schools?
(Members are notified of the general meetings and sent Steering Committee
minutes.) See minutes from 01/11/96 on the back of this memo. Thanks.
Page 1
