Hanson
On Monday, February 5, 1996, the following individuals met to
discuss a new park shelter at Spooner Park and its impact on the
planned facility for Pioneer Park:
Mayor Mike Fahey
Council Member Steve Morelan
Park & Recreation Director Jim Morelan
Park & Recreation Commission Member Pat Ables
Canadian Days Members Ray Hanson, Don Smith, & Julie
Manville -Camp
Park Consultant Bill Sanders
City Administrator Joel Hanson
Based on the discussion occurring at this meeting, the following
points of agreement were reached and are being recommended to the
Council for action. They are:
* A new park shelter at Spooner Park should be
constructed similar to the conceptual diagram submitted
by the Canadian Days Committee. (See attached.)
* The budget for this facility should be set at $120,000
per the recommendation of Bill Sanders.
* There should be no underground storage constructed in
conjunction with this structure.
* Resolution of Canadian Days' storage needs to occur
soon. They are paying $3,600 a year for 600 square
feet. They need about 1,000 square feet. Possible
sites discussed include the old fire hall, the existing
garage in Spooner Park, and an addition to the Spooner
Park garage. The upper level of the old fire hall
could serve in this regard pending the outcome of the
February 14, 1996 workshop on this topic.
Page 44
