To get a
better feel for what the averages are for cities our size, 1 averaged the salary scales for
cities with populations of 5,000- 15,000 (± i% of our population), using an equal number
of larger and smaller cities. This yielded t14.following results:
r8r"F ?iie;.
lailx
Because the figures in the Stanton Report ar ised on 1995 salaries, 1 adjusted them to
1996 values by applying a 2.9% rate of inflation increase. This yielded the following
results:
lairM
P.2 /3
Minimum: $47,471
Maximum: $61,405
Mean: $57,750
Minimum:
Maximum:
Mean:
$48,848
$63,186
$59,425 1F a;; w
Based on this analysis, I propose the mow.
it"—" salary scale for 1996:
Flit_ fiiiu
Start 6 Mo 1 3 4 5
48,848 50,282 51,716 8f4584 57,452 60,320 63,186
I would further recommend that we adjust . e City Administrator's salary in accordance
with the proposed salary scale, retroactive io 1 -1 -96. This would result in a 4.9% salary
increase. Although this increase is higher than the increase other department heads
received, 1 think it is warranted based on Joel's performance reviews and the salary scales
adopted by cities similar to ours.
