Authorized Signature <br />1995 MINNESOTA ReLEAF COST SHARE PROGRAM <br />MATCHING GRANT AGREEMENT <br />THIS MATCHING GRANT AGREEMENT (hereinafter Agreement) is entered into by <br />and between the State of Minnesota acting by and through the Commissioner of Natural Resources <br />(hereinafter Grantor) and the City of Little Canada (hereinafter Grantee). <br />WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Natural Resources has been appropriated funds from <br />the oil overcharge money under 1995 Minnesota laws Chapter 220, Section 20, subdivision 8(c), <br />in order to provide matching grants for the Minnesota ReLeaf Program established by Minnesota <br />Statutes Section 88.82 (1994); and, <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes { 84.085 (1994) authorizes the Commissioner of Natural <br />Resources, in behalf of the state, to accept and use grants of money from the United States for <br />conservation purposes not inconsistent with state law and in accordance with the purposes of the <br />grant and applicable federal and state laws, and Minnsota Statutes { 84.025, subd. 7 (1994) <br />authorizes the Commissioner to contract with Local governments and others as necessary in the <br />performance of duties; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the purposes of the Minnesota ReLeaf Program is to achieve the <br />strategic planting of predominantly native shade trees and community windbreaks for statewide <br />energy conservation and carbon dioxide abatement through planting, preservation, and <br />maintenance of trees in Minnesota cities and towns which clearly will reduce energy use for <br />heating and cooling, and <br />Page 15 <br />
