Many of our projects have been identified by local
governments and citizens, to help us to address important natural
resources issues in their communities.
The Board uses the following priorities to select projects:
• Addresses important natural resources issues that
would benefit from a collaborative solution;
• Also addresses other community needs like economic
development or education;
• Will be visible and accessible to the public: the Board
is particularly interested in projects at schools, public
buildings or grounds, and neighborhood projects like
the Maplewood Stormwater Project;
• Educates one or more of our primary audiences:
consumers, residential and business landowners and
citizens; local governments; and schools and youth.
We hope that you will suggest new demonstration projects or
work items that the Project can address in 1997, 1998, or in
the future, so that we can continue to improve natural resource
quality in local communities by working together.
Work activities planned for 1997 include the following:
Construction and planting of the Sod Farm Urban
Ecology Center project in North St. Paul.
Monitoring and evaluation of the Maplewood Stormwater
Project, and developing Design Options for other
neighborhoods.
Complete plantings at Gervais Mill Pond Park in Little
Page 18
