Hanson Advertisements for the Public Works maintenance position were placed in the Star Tribune, the Review, on Cable TV Channel 16, and posted at St. Cloud Technical College's placement office. Forty -nine applications were either picked up or mailed out. Thirty were returned to the City. The applications received were ranked on a 105 point scale with points given in each of the following categories: * Class B licensing and their endorsements (20 pts. possible) * Operating and maintenance experience (60 pts. possible) * Relevant experience and training (15 pts. possible) * Water and sewer Iicensure (5 pts. possible) * Veterans preference points (5 pts. possible) The seven highest scoring applicants were interviewed on October 25, 1996. They were also given a written questionnaire as part of their interviews which contained twelve questions relating to maintenance activities and how they would handle various problems that could potentially occur in the field. The most qualified candidate from this process was Christopher Imdieke. Chris is a graduate from the St. Cloud Technical College where his major course of study was water and wastewater treatment. Chris is currently employed by the City of Lakeville in their Public Works Division. I recommend that we hire Christopher Imdieke to fill the position of Public Works Maintenance Worker I. Chris and I have tentatively agreed upon a starting salary of $10 an hour and a potential start date of November 18, 1996. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
