515 Little Canada Road, Little Canada, MN 55117-1600
(612) 484 -2177 / FAX: (612) 484 4538
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor Fahey & Members of the City Council
FROM: Joel Hanson, City Administrator
DATE: November 8, 1996
RE: 1997 Improvement Projects
Neighborhood meetings were conducted on the following projects:
* East Brooks Avenue (between Morrison & Savage Lane)
* Australian Avenue (west of Lakeshore)
* Bluwood Avenue (west of Lakeshore)
* Arcade Street (Keller Parkway to Co. Rd. D)
MAYOR
Michael I. Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morel=
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
Copies of the minutes of those meetings are attached for your review. Based on the issues
raised at those meetings, staff is recommending that we proceed only with the Arcade Street
improvement project in 1997. The other projects should be tabled until 1999. We need to
call for an improvement hearing for Arcade Street to keep this process moving. Little Canada
Road will also need to comply with the local improvement code, but that project is not yet
ready to proceed.
Staff would suggest that we hold the improvement hearing during the first week of December.
Our Truth in Taxation hearing is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on December 3. One option would
be to call for the improvement hearing at 8:00 p.m. that evening in order to avoid scheduling
another meeting night. Otherwise, the Council should decide on a night which accommodates
your needs.
JRH:kpv
Enclosures
Page 35
