One resident questioned why McMenemy does not have curb and gutter. They felt that the
City should take care of high traffic areas first before worrying about small, isolated
neighborhoods. The City Administrator stated that McMenemy is currently a County road
and will come back to the City as part of the functional consolidation process. At the point
in time that roadway is reconstructed, curb and gutter would be a likely improvement.
Another resident commented that Roseville assessments were much less than Little Canada's.
The City Administrator stated that Roseville assesses somewhere just over 20% of the project
costs while Little Canada's typically average in the 50/50 range.
Another resident wanted to ensure that the projects were competitively bid and did not see the
need for engineers to be involved. Staff addressed these issues.
Based on the comments received this evening, a petition from the neighborhood indicating
opposition to the project, and the fact that patching of the roadway has allowed the roadway
to survive the last couple of years, staff would not recommend this project for reconstruction
in 1997. It was also indicated that it is likely the neighborhood meeting would be reconvened
in 1997 to discuss this project once again.
The City Administrator thanked those in attendance for coming this evening and for their
input.
-2-
Page 37
