Hanson
The City Council will be considering the adoption of tobacco
regulations at its July 24, 1996 regular meeting. In reviewing
this matter, the Council looked at similar restrictions in force
in other cities. I have attached a copy of this information for
your review. Based on that analysis, the regulations being
considered for Little Canada are as follows:
Vendor Penalties for Sale
1st Offense
2nd Offense
3rd Offense
4th Offense
Additional penalties
to Minors -
$200;
$500;
$1,000 or 5 -day suspension;
$1,500 or 5 -day suspension;
for further violations.
Clerk Penalties for Sale to Minors -
1st Offense $100;
2nd Offense $125;
3rd Offense $150.
Cigarette Vending Machines restricted access with a lock -out
device or use of tokens.
No self- service less than a carton.
Compliance checks required.
The Council would like to invite your attendance at the July 24th
meeting to provide your input and comments into this matter. The
meeting will be held at City Hall, 515 Little Canada Road. It is
anticipated that Council will begin discussion of this matter at
8 P.M.
Page 47
