MINUTES
PLANNING COMMISSION
JUNE 13, 1996
CUP FOR
FREE- STANDING
TOWER -
53 S. OWASSO
BLVD.
Motion seconded by Montour.
Motion carried 4 - 0.
Mr. Craig Green appeared before the Commission
requesting approval of a Conditional Use Permit in
order to construct a 151.5 foot free - standing cellular
tower on the Donovan property located at 53 S. Owasso
Blvd. Green reported that in addition to this tower,
he is working with the City Administrator on an
agreement to allow antennas on the City's water tower.
Keis expressed concern about the number of requests for
towers the City could be faced with.
Green reported that the two tower locations he is
requesting would be all his company needs in Little
Canada.
DeLonais asked if the style of tower could be changed
to a monopole.
Green reported that they prefer a lattice tower since
it is less expensive to construct, and allows other
companies to locate on the same tower. Green reported
that a monopole does not have enough strength for
future build out by other companies.
DeLonais pointed out a similar tower on property on
Viking Drive, and asked the height of that tower.
The City Planner reported that there are two towers
near Highway 36 and he estimated their height at 110 to
125 feet.
Green reported that the lattice tower he is proposing
would have a three -point base covering 18 feet.
Keis asked the height of NSP poles.
Green estimated these poles to be 80 to 100 feet.
Green reported they have discussed the possibility of
locating their antennas on NSP poles, however, NSP is
afraid there will be maintenance and interference
problems. Green also pointed out that the NSP poles do
not have enough height.
8
Page 61
