Fahey
COUNCIL
Beverly Scalze
Jim LaValle
Steve Morelan
Bob Pedersen
ADMINISTRATOR
Joel R. Hanson
RE: Spooner Park Shelter (Advertisement for Bids & Call for
Special Meeting to Consider Award of Bids)
Attached is information from RVK Architects relative to the
construction of a new shelter in Spooner Park. You will note
that the project budget has increased from $120,000 to $130,000.
The architect has included some bid alternates that should allow
us to meet the initial budget of $120,000 if favorable bids are
not received on the total package. It should also be noted that
another $5,000 should be added to this project budget to allow
for the relocation of the current Spooner Park shelter to Pioneer
Park. Therefore, the total project amount (based upon the
architect's shelter estimates) would equal $135,000.
A key component of this project was additional funding to support
the construction budget. A funding status report is as follows:
City Capital Improvement Budget
Canadian Days
Lake Owasso Residence Volunteer Council
North Ramsey 500th Lions Club
Total:
Projected to be received:
Canadian Days
Fire Department
$60,000
20,000
12,500
5,000
$97,500
10,000
Based upon the project's current budget, we are presently $27,500
short of the amount needed. While I am confident that additional
amounts will be received, I cannot guarantee they will fully fund
this deficit. Therefore, if the project is to proceed, we will
need to allocate additional funds from the City's Capital
Improvement Budget and /or hope for a positive variance in the
bids to reduce the amount necessary from additional sources.
Page 154
