PART I - COMMUNITY ROADSIDE LANDSCAPING PARTNERSErP PROGRAM <br />PROGRAM DESCRIPTION <br />The Minnesota Community Roadside landscaping Partnership Program is designed to provide <br />technical and financial assistance to communities that are interested in landscaping state highway rights <br />of way. The program has two goale: (t) roadside enhancement and (2) community improvement. <br />This manual describes the program and application requirements, and provides examples of documents <br />required. Part One is thc general program description. Part Two contains the application form and the <br />instrurtitmx to tanuplete thc form. Part Theo contains appendices that provide examples of resolutions, <br />letters of support, agteements and other information pertinent to the application requirements. <br />Completed applicuiuus may he submitted to Mn/DOT for consideration at any time of the year. <br />If you have any questions shout the program or application requirements, please call (612)296 -5772 to <br />speak with Mn /DOT 1 anise ipe Unit Staff or call your Mn/DOT district office identified in Appendix <br />APPLICANT ELIGIBILITY <br />For purposes of this program, communities are defined as counties and horse Hitt charters, slatutory <br />cities or towns. If you would like additional information about possible piateetships oincidct <br />the etigibility requirements of this conuumtity partnership progintn, please call the Mn /nC)T <br />Landscape Unit or your Mn/DOT district office. <br />ELIGIBLE COMPONENTS <br />Funds awarded undcr this program must be used for roadside landscaping. All improvements eligible <br />for program funds must be Located on state trunk highway rights of way with fee or easement title. Many <br />arms of interstate freeways are excluded from this program. Components that would meet the goals <br />of the program include, but are not limited to, the following:. <br />providing and establishing trees, shrubs, vines, perennial groundcovers, wildflowers and grasses. <br />incorporating soil amendments, herbicides, edging, raised planters, weed fabric, wood fiber <br />blanket, mulch, rodent protection. staking and guytng, etc. <br />PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS <br />Project 'components must support one of the two goals of thc program (roadside enhancement and <br />community improvement.) <br />in the formative stages of the project, the. applicant intuit form and designate a committee of at least three <br />contact persons for the project.
