MINUTES <br />City Council <br />: Feb. 9, 1984 <br />Sewer Budget <br />(Cont.) <br />Sewer <br />Equipment <br />Non- Agenda <br />Item No 3 <br />Mr. Glanzer reported that the addition of a $5,000 contingency fund <br />would amount to about 35 cents per SAC unit per quarter. Glanzer <br />felt that this could be absorbed in the budget without increasing it. <br />1r. Glanzer felt that the commercial sewer rate should be increased <br />from S1.00 per thousand gallons to $1.50 per thousand gallons. <br />Glanzer reported that the city can meter sprinklering and credit <br />the sewer account for this. <br />Mr. Forsberg introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 84 -2 -70 - ADOPTING THE 1984 <br />SEWER BUDGET AND SETTING THE QUARTERLY SEWER <br />CHARGE AT $24.00 PER QUARTER AND SETTING THE COMMERCIAL <br />RATE AT $1.50 PER THOUSAND GALLONS PER QUARTER AND <br />FURTHER CHANGING THE RATE FOR NOBILEHOMES AND APARTMENT <br />UNITS AT 80% OF THE RATE RATHER THAN THE PREVIOUS 75% <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. Scalze. <br />Ayes (4) Forsberg, Scalze, Nardini, Fahey. <br />Nayes (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 10, Page 78. <br />Mr. Glanzer reported that this summer the City had its first sewer <br />blockage caused by root problems. The Utility Department is finding <br />other root problems and will have to begin cleaning sewer lines more <br />often. <br />Glanzer reported that the piece of equipment the City purchased in <br />1968 will not be adequate to get this job done. Also the company <br />that made the equipment is no longer in existence, therefore, there <br />may be a problem getting replacement parts. <br />Mr. Forsberg reported that the department is looking at purchasing a <br />jetting machine from another City. Forsberg will come back with a <br />report on this at the next Council meeting. <br />Glanzer reported that the current equipment will still be retained <br />for emergencies and other types of blockages. <br />35E Bridge Mrs, Scalze asked the status of a bridge over 35E, The Engineer <br />‘n. ) replied that the Highway Department is working on a plan for this. <br />Agenda <br />Item No. 16 <br />page -16- <br />1? <br />
