Jetting Machine
page 2
We may be able to save $400.00 or less on painting, by painting the
jetter to match the truck or by not painting the truck. The jetter
will have to be painted because of the welding done on the truck.
I have contacted Novak Construction who sell new and used jetting
machines and do contract sewer cleaning (for 159.00 per hour) about
used jetter prices. Joe Novak told me the last used jetter they sold
was a 1979 unit and sold for $33,000. They do not have any at this
time. He said that for a good used jetter it would cost about $25,000
to $30,000.
I feel that by buying this jetter from the City of Maplewood we could
put together a very good machine for about $11,500. A jet nozzle
and root saw would have to be purchased to use this machine at a cost
of about 1300.00
Without a machine of this type, it is impossible to maintain our
sewer system properly to prevent back -up and costly repairs to our
system.
I also have attached a copy of a court decision on city liability of
sewer back -ups, printed in the January 1985 Minnesota Cities publication.
This is exactly what may have happened to Little Canada when we had a
sewer back -up on McMenemy St. in July of 1983.
12
