MINUTES
Planning Commission
October 10, 1985
Sinclair
(Cont.)
Blesener further stated that it is up to the Planning Commission and the
City Council to act on variances and not up to either the Planner or the
Building Inspector to do so. The Planner and the Building Inspector
should inform the Planning Commission and the Council what is contained
in the Code.
Mr. DeLonais stated that he felt that the City staff can do a lot more
work instead of letting it be handled by other firms.
Mr. Blesener stated that the Council should define exactly what it is
doing and them inform the Planner.
Mr. Costa stated that the Planning Commission should not be getting a
report from both the Planner and the Building Inspector. Blesener agreed
that this was not fair to the Planning Commission nor to Sinclair.
Thul Mr. Bill Thul appeared before the Commission and reported that he would
Addition like to add on to his garage as he needs more room for the home occupation
To Garage which he is operating. Thul pointed out that in 1971 he was granted
permission by the Council for this occupation.
Mr. Thul reported that the addition would be about 840 square feet in
size and bring the total area of his garage to about 1568 square feet.
Thul stated that he would side the building with whatever material
the City wanted. The Building would be about 26 feet by 56 feet in
total.
Mr. DeLonais stated that he felt the outside of the building should
look like a residential building. Mr. Thul agreed.
Mr. Grittman stated that Mr. Thul needs a conditional use permit
for a garage larger than 1,000 square feet. The Planner also informed
Mr. Thul that the Council will want to see a more detailed site plan
for what he is proposing. The Planner also thought that the Council
would want the building sided with something similar to what Mr. Thul's
house is sided with.
Mr. Herkenhoff recommended approval of a conditional use permit for Mr.
Bill Thul for the addition to his garage upon submission of a complete
site plan.
Motion seconded by Mr. Perlinger.
Motion carried 6 - 0.
Page -4-
