MINUTES Or THE WORKSHOP MEETING CITY COUNCIL LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA AUGUST 8, 2006 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 8`~ day of August, 2006 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. Mayor Bill Blesener called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the following members of the City Council were present at roll call: CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Mr. Bill Blesener Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle Council Member Ms. Barb Allan Council Member Mr. John Keis ABSENT: Council Member Mr. Rick Montour ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mr. Joe] R. Hanson Public Works Supt. Mr. Bill Dircks City Clerk Ms. Kathy Glanzer INrORMATION The purpose of tonight's workshop meeting is to conduct an information UPDATE update session between the City Council and Staff. The first topic discussed was code enforcement. The City Administrator reviewed in detail the Code Enforcement Officer's report dated July 24, 2006 summarizing code enforcement activities in the following areas: Ruth Street -The Code Enforcement Officer is working with the owners of the Ruth Street four-plexes on a variety of violations. Progress has been made, but this area historically slides back into non-compliance. The Administrator indicated that a few years ago, Che City held a meeting with the four-plex property owners to discuss code issues. That meeting resulted in improved compliance for a period of time. The Administrator suggested that another meeting may be beneficial. LaBore Road -letters will be sent to several property owners along LaBore Road that have junk cars, nuisance grass/weeds, front yard parking, and/or junk and debris in their yards. 2966 Arcade Street -The Administrator reviewed the ownership history of this property as well as Gordie Howe's previous interest in purchasing and developing it with single-family homes. The Administrator reported that citations have been issued to the parties involved with this property relative to the code violations. These citations will now proceed through the court system. The Administrator estimated a several month process.
