MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING
PLANNING COMMISSION
LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA
May 14, 1986
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of the
Planning Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was
held on the 14th day of May, 1986 in the Council Chambers of the
City Center located at 515 Little Canada Road in said City.
Chairman Peter Costa called the meeting to order at 6:35 P.M. and
the following members were present at roll call:
MEMBERS PRESENT: Peter Costa, Chairman
Bill Davison
Gene DeLonais
Art Herkenhoff
Thomas Perlinger
Sharon Timmons - arrived 6:45 P.M.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Peggy Schweitzer
ALSO PRESENT: Steve Grittman, City Planner
Kathleen Glanzer, Recording Secretary
Mr. Costa reported that the purpose of tonight's meeting was to
approve or disapprove the parking proposal at the Northwestern Bell
Telephone Building on Rice Street which is proposed as a bingo hall.
Also, a conditional use permit for a PUD has been requested.
The Planner presented a parking proposal for the site labled
Exhibit B. This proposal shows a fence on the southern boundary
of the property to keep traffic from going into Rainbow Foods
as well as a lighting plan for the lot and optional parking area
on the north end of the property. These are the basic changes
over Exhibit A which was previously submitted to the Commission.
The Planner further reported that after 4:30 P.M. each evening,
the parking area utilized by Graebel Moving can be utilized for
the bingo hall.
Mr. Costa asked if food will be served on the premises. Mr. Short
replied that it would and a kitchen will be constructed.
Mr. Davison asked if there would be a problem with only one entrance/
exit onto Rice Street.
The Planner replied that there is room for another entrance /exit
along the north side of the property, however, felt that there is
an existing problem with too many driveways onto Rice Street and
it was best to keep any traffic problems internal on the site and
utilize the one entrance /exit.
Page -1-
- 11
