MINUTES
Planning Commission
May 14, 1986
Mr. Davison stated that he was concerned with traffic spilling out
into the Rainbow Foods parking lot.
Short stated that he would rather not put up a fence until there is
a problem.
Costa agreed that there needs to be a separation between the two
lots and there should be at least curbing installed.
Mr. Short pointed out that Rainbow Foods utilized his property to
access its dumpster and a fence or curbing may interfere with this.
Mr. Davison was concerned with the bus unloading area as far as
safety was concerned.
Mr. Short stated that he was willing to install a fence, but Rainbow
Foods would have to work out their dumpster problems.
Davison asked if the bus unloading area would be striped as a cross -walk
and would be well lit.
Mr. Short stated that the site is presently well lit.
Davison asked if landscaping was a requirement.
The Planner replied that the ordinance does not require a minimum
amount of landscaping. The ordinance requires that the parking lot
should be curbed and that parking is not to occur within five feet
of the property line.
Costa asked about traffic to the Graebel site. Mr. Short estimated
that site receives 5 trucks per day and there are 8 or 9 employee
vehicles. Short stated that the site is basically used as a warehouse.
Short reported that Graebel has a four -year lease with four -year
options. Graebel has indicated that they will allow bus parking on
their site after 4:30 P.M. and car parking will be allowed at the
front of the Rice Street building after 3:30 P.M.
Costa asked the hours of operation for bingo.
Ray Massman of the Lions Club replied that hours will be from 1 P.M.
to 3 P.M., from 3:15 P.M. to 5:15 P.M., from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. and
from 9:15 P.M. to 11:15 P.M. Bingo is hoped to be played during
these hours 7 days per week.
Davison again expressed concern about the bus unloading and pointed
out that this area will be a busy roadway and there is the potential
for problems. The Planner agreed that this was not an ideal situation,
but was the best way to work it out on the site.
Costa asked how many buses would be coming in. Short replied that
it is anticipated to have two buses per session.
Page -2-
12
