TO: MAYOR AND COUNCIL 8 -7 -86
FROM: Bev Scalze
For discussion purposes, here is the bingo policy statement which we
adopted in principle some time ago. I was directed to re -write some
sections, numbers 4 and 6, which are included in draft form here.
The intent is to not have bingo halls in residential areas, but to
allow those events which have been held here in the past, namely
Canadian Days bingo and St. John's, and the fire department should
they decide to sponsor bingo in the future.
acpprova 1
1. All organizations requesting a license application for bingo and
pull tabs from the City of Little Canada shall have shown a benefit
or provided services for the residents of the city as of 1 -1 -86.
2. Groups requesting application approval from the city shall provide
operations statements for the past two years, listing income and
disbursements. Disbursements shall be shown by name and address
of charity receiving funds. Officers of the group shall-be
identified by name and address.
3. Records of charitable gambling operations in Little Canada must be
freely given to the city on demand.
4. There shall be no more than one bingo hall in the city which would
require a waiver to operate more than 4 games per week, and this
bingo location shall be on properly -zoned property surrounded on
all sides by either commercial or industrial zoning within the
city of Little Canada.
5. No alcoholic beverages, beer or wine shall be permitted in bingo
locations.
6. Persons or groups requesting a bingo license approval other than
the one permitted in (4) above shall be limited to one night per
week or two limited -day civic events per year.
22
