Little Canada Planning Commission
4 September 1986
'Page Two
• Roof signs erected prior to the current ordinance may be considered con-
forming if they meet the following conditions:
1. The Building Official finds the signs and sign structure to be in
good condition and they do not endanger the public health, safety,
or general welfare.
2. The roof sign (and any other signs) meet the performance standards of
the ordinance with regard to allowed sign area, as well as other
restrictions of the Sign Ordinance, Section 903.110.
3. For evaluation purposes, roof signs are to be evaluated against the area
and height requirements for freestanding signs. Height is to be
measured as specified In the Ordinance definitions.
A proposed ordinance is attached to this report. It is structured to allow review
by the Building Official when new sign applications affecting existing roof signs
are made. The ordinance is designed to grandfather only those signs which meet
other ordinance criteria. Existing roof signs which exceed sign area allowances,
for instance, would not be grandfathered in. With these restrictions, we recommend
approval of the text amendment.
cc: Joe Chlebeck ✓
Tom Sweeney
Don Carley
John Palacio
David Johnson
