Handicapped requirements are stated in Chapter 1340 of the <br />State Building Code, The Uniform Building, Code states in Chapter 5 <br />Section 502 that no change shall be made to the building or change of <br />occupancies (people) unless the building is made to comply with the <br />requirements of the Code. <br />Table 5 -A would determine the occupancy group. The existing occupancy was <br />Educational - Croup 8. <br />The change in character of occupancy from Group E to Groups B -2 and A -3 <br />would mean the building would then have to be accessible and meet the <br />handicapped requirements as stated in Chapter 1340 of the State Building <br />Code 1340.0300. <br />Building Accessibility: <br />Site approach, walk or ramp 48" wide with a slope not to exceed one <br />vertical to 20 horizontal. <br />Access to Other Stories: <br />Access to other stories or levels shall be by elevators or ramps when <br />the occupant load (people) exceed 100. <br />
