A public hearing to receive <br />comments on this amendment will be held on Thursday, September 8, 1977 <br />at 1:30 p.m. in the Metropolitan Council Chambers, 300 Metro Square <br />Building, 7th and Robert Streets, St. Paul, Minnesota 55101. <br />The Transportation Advisory Board established a Bicycle Systems <br />Subcommittee to assist them in the preparation of a Bicycle and <br />Pedestrian Travel Systems Amendment to the Transportation Development <br />Guide /Policy Plan. The development of this amendment was accelerated <br />by recent legislation providing federal and state funds for the de- <br />velopment of bicycle and pedestrian travel systems. Local requests <br />for these funds and for technical assistance have added impetus fur <br />the Metropolitan Council to formulate policies relevant to the develop- <br />ment of bicycle and pedestrian facilities. <br />All interested persons are invited to participate in the hearing and <br />offer their comments We encourage you to call the Council's public <br />hearing coordinator at 291 -6482 and let us know in advance if you <br />wish to speak. Those who register first will be scheduled to speak <br />first. Written comments may also be submitted until September 15, 1977, <br />seven days following the hearing. <br />Additional copies of the Regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Travel Systems <br />Amendment are. available free of charge from the Council— s Public <br />Infol.mation Office at 291 -6464. <br />I hope you will attend this hearing and offer your comments.
