TRAIL DEVELOPMENT PRELIMINARY APPLICATION <br />FOR FISCAL YEAR 1978 <br />ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS: <br />Eligible applicants are; counties, cities, towns, school districts, and public post <br />secondary education institutions along with special park districts or elected park <br />and recreation boards in cities of the first class. <br />GRANT FUNDING FOR 1978: <br />The 1977 session of the Minnesota Legislature at the request of Governor Perpich <br />enacted an Outdoor Recreation Grant Program to be financed with proceeds from the <br />sale of bonds. Included is a new program which provides 40% of the development cost <br />only of trails within public owned land. Projects that rank high will also be programmed <br />for a 50% LAWCON grant. Highest ranking projects will be programmed for a 40% state grant <br />and a 50% LAWCON grant and the local share will be 10 %. After all LAWCON funds are <br />assigned, the next highest ranking projects will be programmed for a 40% state <br />grant and a 60% local share. <br />Amount available for fiscal year 1978: <br />Metropolitan Area Local Governments Local Governments in the remainder <br />of the State <br />50% LAWCON Grants $200,000 $200,000 <br />40% State Grants $300,000 $300,000 <br />Submission deadline: <br />The attached preliminary applications (blue form) must be received by 5 p.m. <br />September 16, 1977.
