Romsey County Engineers Deportment
3377 North Rice Street
Saint Paul, Minnesota 55112
City of Little Canada
c/o Mr. Joseph Chlebeck, Clerk
515 East Little Canada Road
Little Canada, Minnesota 55117
Dear Mr. Chlebeck,
Divisions of
Engineering
Maintenance
Motor Vehicle
Environmental
(612)484 -9104
July 5, 1977
RE: Drainage along Demont Avenue
East of Rice Street
You have requested an evaluation of whether the Demont Avenue ditch
and culvert system would be adequate if further development of the Terrace
Heights Mobile Home Park occurs.
The Demont system drains approximately 4o acres southeast of Demont
Avenue and Rice Street including State and County road right -of -way, Kellogg
High School, the Mobile Home Park, and some commercial development. The system
consists of an open ditch along the south side of Demont with culverts at two
residential entrances and one pedestrian crossing.
The two entrance culverts, (at 20 and 78 Demont) have inadequate
capacity for both present and future stormwater flows. Development of an
additional three acres of the mobile home park will slightly increase flows
through the system, but should not greatly aggravate overflow problems.
To provide adequate capacity, the present corrugated metal culverts
should be replaced with larger concrete arch culverts. As much as possible,
replacement costs should be shared according to runoff contribution.
DGS/cms
,tC EEIWIQ
JUL 6 1977
CITY OF
LITTLE CANADA
(' ev
Daniel G.
