MINUTES PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION APRIL 4, 2013 Maida commented that while he Liked both designs, he favored the bridge elements that were part of the Flanagan design. The Commission discussed this at length, and it was the consensus that the Flagship design was more unique and provided elements that are different from the playground structures in other parks in the City. Slain noted that an issue of concern raised at the neighborhood meeting was that there should not be the ability to hide behind the equipment. He pointed out that the Flagship design was more open with less opportunities to hide behind equipment elements. The Commission suggested that a different color be used for the shade structures. Sanders indicated that that could be done. The consensus of the Commission was in support of the Flagship design indicating that it better addressed the input from the neighborhood. Maida recommended approval of the Flagship Recreation playground proposal for Nadeau Park with the modification adding one additional shade structure for a total of two. Motion seconded by Slain. Motion carried 6 — 0. The Director reported that the Nadeau Park playground upgrade would be presented to the City Council for approval. It was also discussed that at the time the installation is complete, a grand opening ceremony would be scheduled. The Director noted that removal of the existing Nadeau Park play equipment and the sand will be done by City crews. FIRE BARNS The Director reported that he obtained a proposal from an architect WARMING for the design and construction management of the fire barns warming HOUSE house project. The Director reported that the City Council has requested PROJECT more quotes for these services, and he should have two more by next week. Once all the quotes are obtained, they will be presented to the Council for approval. 3
