Minutes <br />City Council <br />(Cont'd.) <br />October 11, 1978 <br />Hammel's Mel Hammel appeared before the Council to rebuts the discussion of <br />Livestock his livestock which took place at last month's regular Council <br />meeting. Mr. Hammel submitted a petition to the Council with 43 <br />names of neighbors who state that they do not find the Hammel livestock <br />to be a nuisance. Council suggested that Mr. Hammel and Mr. Widmer, <br />who submitted a petition to the. Council last month stating the livestock <br />was a nuisance, get together and try to resolve their differences. <br />Centennial Mr. Horner Dole appeared before the Council and informed them of the <br />Contractors status of his claim against Centennial Contractors. After some <br />work was done by Centennial in front of the Dole home, rain caused <br />the basement wall of the Dole home to cave in. Mr. Dole made claim <br />against Centennial for the damage and the claim was submitted to <br />Centennials insurance company. Now Centennial has informed their <br />insurance company that Centennial has no responsibility for the damage. <br />Council made mention of the fact that the house was in its location <br />for 25 to 30 years with no damage to the basement until the day that <br />Centennial was working in front of the house. <br />Councilman DeBace stated that Centennial has not been performing <br />satisfactorily in their work in Little Canada, and they should not <br />be paid until the situation changes. <br />Mr. DeBace introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 78 -10 -371 - AUTHORIZING THE WITHHOLDING <br />OF PAYMENT TO CENTENNIAL CONTRACTORS UNTIL CENTENNIAL IS <br />PERFORMING TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Valento. <br />Ayes (5) Messrs. DeBace, Valento, Nadeau, Jespersen and Hanson. <br />Nayes (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book No, 4, Page 298. <br />Council At the budget meeting of the City Council, Council requested the <br />Salary City Attorney to prepare an ordinance to increase the salaries of <br />Ordinance the Councilmen to 3150.00 per month and the salary of the Mayor to <br />$200.00 per month. Mr. Valento stated that it was his feeling that <br />Councilmen and Mayor should'do the job for as little as possible. <br />Mr. Jespersen introduced the following ordinance and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 78 -10 -371 - APPROVING ORDINANCE <br />INCREASING THE COUNCIL SALARIES <br />J t° <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Hanson. <br />Ayes (4) Messrs. Jespersen, Hanson, DeBace and Nadeau. <br />Nayes (1) Mr. Valenta. <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 4, Page 2.98.. <br />Page -6- <br />
