For example, <br />respiratory infections due to inadequate heating, ventilation and overcrowded <br />sleeping arrangements, accidents due to crowding, poor electricalconditions, <br />poor lighting and structural conditions. <br />Food contamination occurs from unsanitary conditions or practices during <br />food manufacture, processing delivery, storage, preparation or service. Only <br />about 10 percent of the food -borne illnesses are reported. <br />Regular inspection of the approximately 1,000 food and beverage establishments <br />in Ramsey County, together with inspection of schools, daycare centers, hotels, <br />motels, hospitals, cams, and nursing homes is necessary to prevent food - related • <br />health problems. <br />In 1970, there were approximately 12,700 septic tank and leach field systems <br />in Ramsey County which require proper maintenance and inspection. System failures <br />and abandoned systems result in surfacing sewage and unhealthy water conditions. <br />GOAL FOR RAMSEY COUNTY <br />Eliminate or inorove environmental factors and conditions in suburban <br />Ramsey County that act or potentially act as an agent(s) to cause or aggravate <br />disease, injury, or deleteriously effect the social well -being of a person or <br />a community. <br />PROGRAM DELIVERY 1uBiYii0DS <br />Environmental health program objectives must be delineated each year in the <br />CHS plan submitted to the Minnesota Department of Health.
