CITY OF LITTLE CANADA
SUBDIVISIONS AND PLATTING
TIME SCHEDULE AND REVIEW PROCESS
A. The applicant files a preliminary plat request with accompanying fee at least
ten (10) days prior to the next regular Planning Commission meeting at which
the request is to be considered.
B. Where appropriate, the City Clerk and appropriate staff will meet with the
applicant to discuss the request and related information.
C. The City Clerk forwards the request and supportive information to the Planning
Commission no later than seven (7) days prior to the meeting date at which
the matter is to be discussed.
D. The Planning Commission acknowledges filing and receipt of application;
begins preliminary review of the request and evaluates whether any technical
response or investigation is required from staff, other City bodies or state and
county agencies. When all required information is found to be provided, the
Commission shall establish a date for formal public hearing of the preliminary
plat request.
E. If necessary, the staff and commissions, etc. mentioned above review the
request and forward a written recommendation back to the Planning Commission
at least seven (7) days prior to the public hearing.
F. The Planning Commission holds the public hearing (if all required information
has been submitted), evaluates the recommendations of the staff, commissions
and concerned agencies in conjunction with public comment, and formulates
a final recommendation for submission to the City Council. A recommendation
is required at the meeting where the public hearing on the preliminary plat is
closed.
G. The City Council reviews all written recommendations and carefully evaluates
the Planning Commission recommendations. A decision for approval /denial of
the preliminary plat is made if all information necessary for a determination is
available.
H. Should the Council's decision be a reversal of the Planning Commission
recommendation, the request shall be referred back to the Commission with
an explanation as to the basis for the Council's decision. The Commission
will respond again to the Council on the request.
17
