-1 <br />OFFICE OF THE LAND COIS SICUER, RPYSEY COUNTY <br />SUBJECT: Administration of Tax Forfeited kind <br />9/29/72 <br />Immediately after forfeiture, the lists of lands forfeited to the State for <br />nonpayment of taxes are certified to the Office of the Tend Commissioner by the <br />Office of the County Auditor. Appropriate records are prepared and maintained <br />for the purpose of accounting for all such lands, the properties are inspected <br />as soon as possible after forfeiture, and as often as necessary thereafter. <br />This procedure, along with the information received from the various sources <br />cited hereafter, is used to prepare the Land Commissioner's recommendation to <br />the county board as to whether the lands are to be sold, or withheld from sale <br />for a public purpose. <br />Initial requirements, in conformance with Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 282, <br />are as follows: <br />1. Classification of tax forfeited lands by resolution of the county <br />board. (see attached sheet on classification) <br />2. Approval of said classification by local governing body wherein <br />these lands lie. <br />The lists of classified lands are then delivered to the following: <br />All cities and villages wherein such lands lie. (this includes <br />the Rousing and Redevelopment Authority and the Port <br />Authority of St. Paul). <br />The Office of the county engineer. <br />The Office of the director of parks and recreation. <br />The County Board must approve by resolution, the following actions: <br />Classification of tax forfeited lands. <br />Reclassification of tax forfeited lands. <br />The sale and appraisal of tax forfeited lands and setting tint of sale. <br />Withholding Irnds from sale for possible public use. <br />Releasing for sale such lands withheld. <br />Repurchases of tax forfeited lands by former owners. <br />Applications by governmental subdivisions for conveyance of such lands. <br />Required action by city or village council or town board -by resolution: <br />Approval of the classification of tax forfeited land. <br />(as classified by the county board) <br />Approval of sale of tax forfeited lands. <br />032- <br />
