A SAMPLE ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE MINNESOTA <br />UNIFORM FIRE CODE BY REFERENCE <br />(prepared by the League of-Minnesota Municipalities) <br />The (city council) (county board) (township board) of <br />ordains: <br />Section 1.. UNIFORM FIRE CODE <br />The Minnesota Uniform Fire Code, one copy'of which has been marked <br />as the official copy and which is on file in the office of the (city <br />clerk) (county auditor) (clerk`of the township board), is hereby adopted <br />as the fire code for the (city) (county) (township) for the purpose of <br />prescribing regulations governing conditions hazardous to life and <br />property from fire or explosion, except such portions as are modified <br />or amended by Section 7 of this ordinance. Every provision contained <br />in this code, except as modified or amended by this ordinance, is hereby <br />adopted and made a part of this ordinance as if fully set forth herein. <br />NOTE: Permits required in various Articles of the Minnesota Uniform <br />Fire Code are for the purpose of giving the Chief more effective <br />control over hazardous conditions regulated by the Code. Where <br />fees are charged for such permits it is desirable that the money <br />for fees be handled by some agency other than the Fire Department, <br />to avoid the impression that inspections are made for obtaining <br />the fees rather than for providing. fire prevention service. <br />It is also desirable to fix in the adopting ordinance the time <br />period for which a permit is valid. Where licenses are required <br />by a municipality in addition to permits required by the Minnesota <br />Uniform Fire Code and such licenses are renewable each year, it is <br />suggested that permits be made renewable each year. <br />Municipality is defined under Section 1.415 to include any <br />city, county or township.
