HENTGES, COUNCILMAN
"SERVICE IS OUR BUSINESS"
Attention: Mr. W. D. Donaldson, Executive Director
Gentlemen:
At a recent meeting of the Columbia Heights /Hilltop Cable TV
Advisory Committee, the proposed Cable Service Territory for
St. Paul Suburbs was discussed in detail. The major concern
expressed by board members dealt with the question of a common
interest among the affected suburban communities.
Of particular concern was the question of a common interest
among school districts. Since several of the communities are
not in similar school districts, nor in similar school confer-
ences, the question arises as to whether such school districts
would have a common interest. In addition, although all commu-
nities may be considered first ring suburbs to the City of St.
Paul, it likewise is questionable as to whether a common inter-
est exists among all the communities included in the CST. How-
ever, committee members felt that this issue should be addressed
by each of the communities.
Although the Minnesota Cable Communications Board is cognizant
of the need for interconnects among cable systems, our Advi-
sory Committee felt the necessity of stressing the need for
such if the proposed Cable Service Territory is approved for
the St. Paul Suburbs. The majority of members felt that this
was of primary concern to the Columbia Heights /Hilltop Cable
Service Territory.
